Community & Safety Guidelines

Vlncy exists purely to get you off your screen, into the real world, meeting people.
Though we’d like you on the app as little as possible, we do want your time on it to be safe, inclusive, pleasant and memorable. While we’ve got safeguards to prevent anything untoward, you do contribute in a real way in keeping it a haven for compatible lasting relationships.
That’s where our guidelines come in, establishing boundaries for interactions that our app encourages.

Age

We’re a little more demanding than other apps when we insist that our members be at least 21 years old to join our dating pool. The rigorous verification process we’ve got in place will prevent anyone below that age from making an account.

Relationship status

Vlncy permits only legally single individuals onto the app, and users are required to affirm and attest to their singlehood before they create a profile. This means that under Indian law you are single/unmarried at the time of creation of your account.

Location

We really look forward to changing this, but Vlncy currently operates only within the city of Bangalore. You’ll be asked for location sharing when you begin profile creation; being outside the city’s limits will rule out the option of making an account if you’re new. If you make an account within the city but then travel elsewhere, you’ll be able to use the app only when you’re back in Bangalore.

Name

We’re all about authenticity. Vlncy allows only real, legal names, determined during our verification process, to be displayed to others. You’ll be allowed to choose which part of your full legal name you’d like visible. Of course this rules out using aliases, monikers or the name of any fictional character or celebrity (unless you actually happen to share it with them).

Adult content, nudity, and sexual activity

Vlncy prohibits and, by means of the way the app is designed, rules out nude or sexually explicit content. Our app disallows the commercial exchange of any romantic or sexual activity, content or services, including attempts to sell, advertise or buy adult sexual content.

Bullying and abusive conduct

Vlncy does not permit content or behaviour that results in the harassment, bullying, or targeting of any individual or group. This includes, but is not limited to, emotional abuse, belittling, insulting, or intimidating behaviour, unwarranted comments pertaining to someone’s appearance, blackmail, repeated unwanted contact, or wishing, encouraging, or praising acts of violence.

Physical and sexual violence

We show zero tolerance to content or behaviour that commits or threatens credible acts of physical or sexual violence. This includes physical stalking, indirectly using our platform to assist, facilitate or support exploitation or human trafficking and sexual assault of any kind, which we define as unwanted physical contact or attempted physical contact that is sexual in nature.

Misrepresentation

Vlncy thrives on genuineness of identity and purpose. We prevent and prohibit false declaration of age, identity, or relationship status. Be honest. Be real.

Sexual harassment

We do not tolerate sexual harassment, which we define to include any non-physical, unwanted and/or unwelcome sexual behaviour between individuals. This includes the sharing of unsolicited sexually explicit images, in-person indecent exposure, sharing or threatening to share sexual or intimate images without the consent of the person involved or depicted, unwanted sexual comments or images and fetishisation.

Reporting and Termination

Vlncy makes every reasonable effort to ensure that the risk of spamming, sexual harassment, cyberflashing, etc. is avoided while on the app.
Any behaviour or content, however, that in rare cases bypasses our safeguards, ought to be brought to our attention. This includes any instances that violate our guidelines.
Users are recommended to use either the Terminate and/ or Report option at any point during the interaction/ connection in the case of a genuine offense.

The Terminate option works by breaking the match between you and another user; such a user will be unable to interact further or match with you again during your membership on the app.
The Report option will flag violations to our moderation teams, who will speedily investigate the interaction/ connection and blacklist the user if found to be an offender and remove them from the app’s dating pool. The Report option, in addition to alerting us to a user’s behaviour, will also remove them from your match list, leaving them unable to interact or match with you again.
These options may be used in either of two situations:
1. During online interactions/ connections on the app
2. After successful completion of an interaction/ connection on the app (during/ after a live date or exchange of contact details)
When Reporting a user during or following a live date, the aggrieved user is encouraged to describe the specifics of the offence they wish to highlight on a screen set aside on the app purely for this purpose.

Rate and Review

These two options allow our singletons to provide feedback for the matches/ dates found on the app and the date venues recommended by Vlncy.
Singletons are encouraged to provide this feedback as it allows Vlncy to improve its matching algorithm; in the case of venues, this helps us hone in on establishments that grant a stellar experience for dating.

Dating safety

Vlncy strongly encourages its singletons to keep us informed about the conduct of its users after exchange of contact details and /or live dates. Our moderation and feedback teams stand ready to act in the case of any infringement of personal boundaries and Vlncy guidelines.
We do, however, recommend and expect that users follow these, and any other basic social precautions, when stepping out for live dates with anyone matched with on the app.

After exchanging contact details

Remain a little mysterious
While being completely forthcoming with your match, please refrain from revealing specifics such as your residential and work addresses, details about family, friends, colleagues and your routines.

Establish a comfort zone
Clearly define your boundaries during conversation online, including topics, language, tone, the content (whether verbal, visual or aural), timings and mode of communication. Let them know of your preferred frequency of communication, appropriate times and limits.

Meeting for real

Public display of alertness:
Always meet in a populated, public spot…. our venues meet precisely this criterion.
Firmly avoid meeting at isolated places, residences, work addresses and locations other than the venue. Do not hesitate to call off the date if your date partner insists on any other arrangement after getting connected and report them for it.

Keep your folks in the know
Always let either friends and/ or family in on your date plans. Include the name of your date, the time and venue and expected duration. Keep an emergency contact ready to ensure a quick exit when needed. Never go dating without a fully charged phone.

Timing is everything
Fix a date time that allows for safety and ease of transportation; avoid lateness at arrival and departure.

Keep your ride to yourself
Make sure you’re in complete control of your means of travel to and from the date. You should be able to comfortably arrive at and leave the date when you feel like it.

Never leave your food/ drinks and belongings alone
Ensure your date never has an opportunity to add substances to your plate or glass. Accept servings only if they arrive from the venue/ establishment. Your phone, purse/ wallet, ID and any sensitive possession should be on your person at all times.

Let instincts do the talking
Stay on course with the date ONLY if you feel utterly comfortable. Create a prearranged code text with your friends (before the date) in case you require a speedy exit. Do not hesitate to seek help from the establishment if needed.
